Relay for Life

Relay for Life was at UNH this weekend. I spent Saturday and Sunday walking around the indoor track at the field house on campus to raise money for the American Cancer Society. I want to thank everyone who donated to me to help raise $250. Above are pictues of the Luminaria bags that I donated money to make for my sister in-law's sister, Shanna Pinet who is a two time breast cancer survivor, and my great uncle pete who died of cancer last year. I had so much fun over the weekend, but I am very sore from all the walking. I felt like I walked a million miles, but it was all worth it. Thank you everyone for the support!

No One Is Safe Anymore

"UNH CAMPUS ALERT
This morning, an anonymous email was received by the Office of Admissions at UNH, alleging that pipe bombs are "in and around UNH facilities on Main Campus." The UNH Police Department is investigating this matter, but in the interim, we ask that you remain alert and that if any member of the University community sees something that looks out of place, that you contact the University Police Department immediately at 862-1427 (or 911 from a campus phone). We ask that you not touch any unusual or suspicious objects. Thank you."
As you can see, there have been many threats since the recent tragedies at Virgina Tech, and we are in the aftermath where no one is safe anymore. Just like after September 11th, there is going to be heighten security and an increase of threats all over the country. Unforunetly, there is nothing we can do about it. I just ask everyone to pray for the safety of all campuses around the country and pray for all the families who lost someone from the Virginia Tech shootings.

Update on the Stack/Silva Wedding

So, my cousin is getting very excited about her wedding which is in June 2008. She has already chosen dresses for us bridesmaids which are definetly the style that is in these days. As you can see from the picture, they are knee length and a soft green color (no, we are not doing the parasols). But she is not sure if she wants strapless or not. I will definetly have to do some sort of tanning for it. We will all go in the summer for fittings at Aria Bridesmaids in Boston and she will decide what kind of top looks best on everyone.

All us bridesmaids and the bride went out to dinner at Sal's Italian Restuarant in Lawrence, MA. It was very good. I was very surprised because I thought it would be like every other Sal's Pizza, but it was a very nice Italian restuarant. We spent 4 hours eating, drinking wine, and talking about every little detail of the wedding we could possibly think of. It was nice to meet the girls that I didn't know and see those who I haven't seen in a while. I am getting so excited about the wedding, I can't wait. It will be here soon enough. There is so much to get done between now and then!

Happy 28th Birthday and Happy 30th Anniversary!

I haven't blogged in a while and missed a couple of occasions in my family. My brother turned 28 on Easter and my parents celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on April 16th. Congratulations to Brian and Mom and Dad!

April Fool's Day!

This is a story from my nursing day-to-day calendar. If you don't get it right away, think about it and really try to sound out the name. Enjoy!

"As a male RN in the ER, I really should have seen this one coming. On April Fool's Day, I picked up a chart and walked out to the waiting room to call my next patient without really looking at the chief complaint--'Vaginal Bleeding.' The name on the chart was Gynahurtz, Myva. So who stood in the waiting area yelling for Myva? Myva Gynahurtz? At least three other nurses, a couple of techs, and one police officer, all rolling on the floor laughing at that one. "
